BASQUE NATIONAL ORCHESTRA

In September 2017, Treviño was proud to assume the Music Directorship of the Basque National Orchestra based in San Sebastian (Basque Country - Spain). His extremely successful tenure was then renewed, and has now been extended indefinitely.

Formed in 1982, the Basque National Orchestra is one of Spain's leading orchestras, delivering programmes to 7,000 subscribers and an average audience of 150,000 per annum. It performs subscription series across the Basque Country, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Pamplona, San Sebastian, and Bilbao. Former Music Directors have included Andres Orozco-Estrada and Jun Märkl.

Treviño has led the orchestra on many international tours, including to Germany, Austria, France, Poland, and Turkey and in the 23-24 season he will lead them to their Salzburg debut. And their award-winning series of recordings together have been attracting accolades and extremely positive reviews around the world ("uncommonly vibrant" The New Yorker; "urgently recommended" Gramophone).
